NEWBURGH – A lightning
strike to a utility pole caused a power outage in the Newburgh area that
knocked out the lights to over 300 customers Thursday night.
Central Hudson said 209 customers in the City of Newburgh and 98 in the Town of New Windsor lost power, which was expected to be restored before midnight.
Central Hudson spokesman John Maserjian said Friday morning that the
cause was determined to be a lightning strike to a pole near the intersection
of South Wter and Renwick streets.
