POUGHKEEPSIE – The proposed 2016 Dutchess County budget received the nod from the Budget and Finance Committee of the county legislature Thursday night.  The budget reduces the tax rate by 1.6 percent with no cuts to services or programs. It also reduces the property tax levy by $1 million.
There were a handful of mostly housekeeping amendments approved for the $456 million document that was drafted by County Executive Marcus Molinaro.
The nine to one committee vote in favor of the spending plan demonstrates almost universal approval, said committee Chairman Dale Borchert.
“The budget committee was satisfied with the budget,” Borchert said.  “It was a good session, a good two weeks of review and we are happy to move on to the full body of the legislature in December.”
Legislator Joel Tyner, who cast the sole negative vote, introduced several amendments, all of which failed.
