WASHINGTON – The USDA,
through its Value-Added Producer Grant Program, has awarded two grants
totaling just under $158,000 for two farm-related facilities in the region.
Snowdance Farm in Sullivan County will receive over $116,000 for working capital expenses for owner Marc Jaffe’s meat and poultry products for working capital related to production and marketing of his business.
Yiddish Farm Education Center Inc. will receive over $41,000 to assist with working capital associated with their matzo expansion.
“Ensuring that agriculture is able to flourish – and the unique needs of new York agriculture are considered in federal programs – has always been a top priority of mine,” said Senator Charles Schumer. “This direct USDA assistance will allow two farms in the Hudson Valley to generate increased economic revenue by bringing new products to market and expanding their operations.”
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said the state needs “our farmers if we’re going to have a strong economy in New York.” She said the funds “will help producers earn more from their crops by expanding processing and marketing opportunities which will continue to drive economic growth in the region and across the state.”
