GREENPORT – A registered nurse who formerly worked in the Columbia County Correctional Facility, pled guilty in Greenport Town Court on Monday to official misconduct. She had resigned from her job on September 30.
Sheriff David Bartlett said Laurie Wordon, 55, of Greenport, had “committed an act relating to her duties as a registered nurse while she was working at the correctional facility.” It involved an inmate there and the she “knew constituted an unauthorized exercise of her official function,” he said.
Bartlett said the investigation began when discrepancies were found by staff in routine audits of reports. He termed her actions “a serious breach of the public trust.”
