KIAMESHA LAKE – The state has said all along that it would grant formal casino licenses including for the Montreign casino in Sullivan County by the end of the year and that is only about six weeks away.
Montreign, part of the Adelaar resort, will be built and operated by Empire Resorts, which owns Monticello Casino and Raceway miles away and its vice president, Charles Degliomini, said the anxiety is mounting.
“It’s November already; it’s basically less than 60 days,” he said.  “We’ve waited around since the days of Nelson Rockefeller, we can wait a couple of weeks more.”
Degliomini noted much of the infrastructure for the project has already been put in place.
“We have already begun a tremendous amount of work building new roads, putting in the water, power, sewer, all of the things required to go vertical once the license is given,” he said.
By law, once the license is formally granted, the 1.5 million square foot facility must be constructed in two years.
