HIGHMOUNT – Citizens group Catskill Heritage Alliance has filed a lawsuit against the state Department of Environmental Conservation claiming the state agency did not adequately consider certain aspects of the proposed Belleayre Report in its review of the project.
Alliance Chairwoman Kathy Nolan said Crossroads Ventures’ plan
for two hotels, a spa, 18-hole golf course and 629 lodging units on 739
mountainside acres in Highmount is too big and too high up on the mountainside.
“The earlier review of the project had said a one-hotel alternative should be reviewed and considered and Crossroads Ventures basically didn’t do that and the DEC didn’t require them to do it even though previously they had been instructed by an administrative law judge to do it,” Nolan said.
The suit was filed on Tuesday in State Supreme Court in Albany.
