Westchester woman was murdered, police say

NORTH SALEM – An elderly woman found dead in her home was killed as a result of blunt force trauma, State Police said late Tuesday afternoon.
Lois Colley, 83, was found dead in the laundry room of her home on Titicus Road in North Salem at about 5:20 p.m. on Monday, November 9.  Colley was the wife of McDonald’s franchise owner Eugene Colley and was well-known in the community. 
Troopers responded to the scene after a property caretaker who found her body called 911 for assistance.
Police said the preliminary investigation revealed she was the apparent victim of a homicide that occurred Monday afternoon.
Major Robin Benziger, the Troop K commander of the State Police said the community “should remain alert and vigilant in reporting to police any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons in the North Salem area.”
Lt. Paul DeQuarto called the murder “a shocking and disturbing crime in what is usually a quiet and peaceful town in Westchester County.”
