POUGHKEEPSIE – In honor of Veterans Day, The Dutchess Community College Veterans Club Tuesday cut the ribbon on their new Veterans Resource Center at the main campus in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
The facility, in Hudson Hall, was made possible by college President Pamela Edington.
Stewart Dawes, college registrar counsel and certified VA officer, said the new facility will provide significant assistance for veterans and their families.
“This is going to be for our veteran students, dependent spouses, and children,” Dawes said. “Currently, we serve about 165 vets and their spouses and children and they come through my office for advice and registration certification for their GI bill and other ancillary issues that they may have, I will be their referral point.”
Prior to the ribbon cutting for the new center, the college hosted a flag retreat ceremony.
