BEACON – The City of Beacon has become the first Dutchess County municipality to joint Energize NY through Solarize Beacon.  There are only 22 other communities in the state to participate in the program to date.
Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro and Beacon Mayor Randy Casale talked up the program that provides for clean-energy improvements to help commercial building owners and not-for-profits in the county through the state program.
“By driving down energy consumption, we not only have an environmental benefit, but Solarize Dutchess also enables property owners to see a reduction in their energy costs, but they can reinvest in their home or business and the City of Beacon is a prime example in that initiative,” said Molinaro.
Unlike other loan products, Energize NY financing is repaid through an annual charge on the property’s tax bill, which automatically transfers to a new owner if the property is sold. Energize NY financing is based on the property’s ability to save energy, not on traditional credit measures.
