KINGSTON – The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office has lost one of its K-9s. Kilo died from medical complications.  The dog had been a member of the K-9 team since 2006.
Kilo was escorted on a “final patrol” Friday night from New Paltz to the Hoppenstedt Veterinary Hospital in the Town of Ulster by his handler Deputy James Slinsky, members of the sheriff’s office, town police from Lloyd, Ulster, Rosendale and New Paltz, State Police and Poughkeepsie City Police.
Kilo had an extensive and productive career contributing to the seizure of hundreds of pounds of marijuana, over two kilograms of cocaine, several thousand decks of heroin, thousands of tablets of ecstasy, hundreds of diverted pharmaceuticals and over $500,000 in cash.
He also tracked and captured several suspects.
