POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie does not have a planning department, something members of the common council have opposed.
Incoming Mayor Robert Rolison plans on bringing one back, and will have support from Dutchess County until he puts it into place.
“I do know in conversation with the county executive that he has offered planning staff to work specifically on city planning issues and that is something that I am very appreciative and will accept until we get our own people in some of these positions,” Rolison said.
Supporters of a city planning department believe it will aid in attracting more economic development and jobs to Poughkeepsie.
