Poughkeepsie man shot in the back

POUGHKEEPSIE – Police
in Poughkeepsie are investigating the shooting of a man who took a bullet
to his back early Monday morning.

The victim, a 36-year-old city resident, was inside a garage in the rear
of 138 Montgomery Street that had been converted to a recording studio.
At about 2:20 a.m., the victim heard several loud banks, opened the door
and was confronted by two men with guns.

The man began to run and was shot and then pistol-whipped as he lay on
the ground. The victim fought with his attackers and was able to flee,
running to Main Street.

The victim was treated at a hospital for a non-life threatening wound,
police said.
