CROTON FALLS – It was a special day on Saturday for the Croton Falls Fire Department as members officially dedicated their new firehouse off Route 22.
The facility is a former Verizon building that replaces the former firehouse in downtown Croton Falls that the department outgrew.
“We have left many memories behind in the old building, but today marks a new beginning,” said department President Jeffrey Daday, a former chief and longtime fire department member. “The spirit of those who have passed on to fighting fires above will always be with us.
Former Chief Drew Outhouse, who grew up next door to the new firehouse, said moving to the new facility was “a total team effort.”
The Croton Falls Fire Department serves sections of the towns of Carmel and Southeast and the North Salem area.
