WALDEN – Angry Orchard,
owned by Boston Brewing Company, opened their new facilities in Montgomery
on Friday.

On the site of the former Crist Apple Orchard, the company grows, presses
and created hard apply cider.

An official ribbon cutting was held with Orange County Executive Steven
Neuhaus praising the opportunity to retain the farm with its 60-acre orchard
and create several varieties of hard cider and another tourist destination
for the region.

“New York is the second largest state in the country that produces
apples and what they are doing is taking locally grown apples and turning
them into cider,” he said.

The Hudson Valley is considered in the heart of New York’s “apple
belt” and with breweries and distilleries cropping up across the
region, it is fast becoming a niche category for visitors to the region.
