KINGSTON – The sloop Clearwater is about to undergo its largest, most extensive rehab since it first sailed in 1969.
The ship is in the midst of a multi-year Coast Guard-mandated restoration of its hull involving replacement of all of the frames and planks, and much of the “backbone” below the water line.
A public volunteer day will be held at the Hudson River Maritime Museum on the Kingston waterfront this Saturday, November 7 where residents are welcomed to assist crew members remove the bilge weights from the sloop.
