Dr. Kurban
POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro Monday
announced the appointment of Dr. Henry Kurban as the county’s commissioner
of the new Department of Behavioral and Community Health. That agency
is a merger of the departments of Health and Mental Hygiene. Kurban will
start at the beginning of January.
He comes to Dutchess after having served as health director for the Florida
Department of Health – Charlotte County Health Department in Port
Charlotte, Florida for the past three years.
Kurban was selected following a nationwide search.
He earned his MD with Distinction from the University of Western Ontario
in London, Ontario, Canada.
Molinaro has also named Sabrina Marzouka as commissioner of the Department
of Community and Family Services. She has most recently been serving as
acting commissioner.
Both appointments are subject to county legislature confirmation, which
is expected. Both appointments will come before legislative committees
on Thursday.
