Three arrested on drug charges in pre-dawn raids

GREENPORT – Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies executed three
search warrants early Friday morning resulting in the arrests of three
people on drug charges.

The investigation focused on suspicious activity taking place at three
locations in the Greenport area. Law enforcement agencies conducted a
six-week investigation that yielded intelligence and evidence.

The operation culminated with the execution of the search warrants at
141 Jolsen Boulevard, 336 Jolsen Boulevard, and 414 Jolsen Boulevard in
Greenport. Seized in the raids were cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin and
marijuana.

Jimmie Johnson, 42, of Greenport was charged with felony drug possession
and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He was remanded to
the Columbia County Jail without bail.

Demetrius Amaker, 45, of Greenport, was arrested and charged with felony
drug possession and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He
was remanded without bail.

Gary Smith, 53, of Greenport, was charged with felony drug possession
and remanded in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

Sheriff David Bartlett said the investigation is continuing and more arrests
are expected.
