NEWBURGH – A check for $25,000 presented to the City of Newburgh from Orange County Government will be used to restore the 1842 County Courthouse at 123 Grand Street. The city owns the building.
A ceremonial check was presented to city officials on the courthouse steps on Wednesday.
“The City of Newburgh is an important part of our county,” said County Executive Steven Neuhaus. “This funding demonstrates the county’s commitment to helping assist our cities in their rejuvenation efforts. We are proud to support these initiatives.”
“Newburgh is a growing city and we need this type of cooperation from the county, state and federal governments to keep the momentum going,” said County Legislator Curlie Dillard.
The county allocated $25,000 to each of the three cities – Newburgh, Middletown and Port Jervis.
