HIGHLAND MILLS – The members of the Town of Woodbury Police Benevolent Association have cast a vote of “no confident” in Chief Richard Vasquez.
In a letter to the Woodbury Town Board, PBA President Jahn Farrell wrote that the chief “has shown indifference to the needs of the town and the department’s officers and employees, lack of integrity and poor public decision making.”
Farrell told the board members in the letter dated October 27 that Vasquez should be removed from his position. “The PBA is confident that a new chief can lead, manage and restore our police department to the professional status it always enjoyed,” he wrote.
Vasquez was suspended for one month by the town board, but citing a personnel
matter, town officials will not discuss the reason. Farrell said the PBA’s
“no confidence” vote has nothing to do with the board’s
action against the chief.
Vasquez is running for Rockland County sheriff.
