MIDDLETOWN – The rash of bomb scares at Middletown schools continued Tuesday with two more reported – one at an elementary school and the other at SUNY Orange.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano said the full resources of all police agencies are investigating the incidents.
“It’s a very complicated process called ‘swatting’,” DeStefano said.  “We’ve spoken to Wallkill Town Supervisor Dan Depew about potential litigation against the companies that are allowing this to happen with the transfer of the Internet signal, how they are doing it.  We want people to know that all of resources of the Middletown Police Department, Wallkill Police Department, New York State Police and FBI are working on it.”
The term “swatting” stems from the dispatch of police department SWAT teams when bomb threat incidents are made.
