NEW PALTZ – A two-alarm fire at a multiple residence at 40 North Chestnut Street in New Paltz on Tuesday afternoon left several SUNY New Paltz students homeless.
Fire Chief David Weeks said the fire started and was contained to a third-floor bedroom, but water damage extended to much of the remainder of the house.  The cause of the fire is unknown.
There were no injuries. All of the students who lived there were provided with temporary shelter at the college.
