WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man was sentenced in Westchester County Court on Tuesday to 20 years to life in state prison after his guilty plea to murder.
Phillip Copeland, 29, also pled guilty to criminal possession of a weapon.
Just before 10 p.m. on December 12, 2014 Copeland and the victim, Jlynn Reeves, 37, argued in the lobby of Levister Towers in Mount Vernon when Copeland shot the victim with a .380 caliber automatic pistol.  Surveillance video helped police identify and arrest Copeland about an hour-and-a-half after the shooting.
