GREENBURGH – Moody’s and Standard and Poors have both assigned the Town of Greenburgh the highest bond rating possible.
Town Supervisor Paul Feiner noted the Aaa rating from
Moody’s and the AAA bond rating from Standard and Poor’s are
given to very few governments and this was not the first year the town
has received those top grades.
“The last one was a AAA, but in this poor economy and during the Great Recession, a lot of communities were losing their bond ratings so it has really been very difficult to keep,” he said.
Feiner said the ratings will be about a $300,000 savings when the town goes out to bond.
Both rating services said the town’s affluent and stable tax base reflect its strong financial position.
