NEW YORK – The MTA’s Metro-North Railroad is reducing overnight Hudson Line train service between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. on three Friday nights/Saturday mornings this fall as workers building the new Tappan Zee Bridge install 700-ton girder assemblies over the tracks at Tarrytown.
The first planned work is set for October 23 to 24.
The schedule change will mean no passenger trains are beneath the work site while the girder assemblies are moving overhead,” said railroad President Joseph Giulietti. That means fewer trains than normal during three 13-hour construction periods.
The new TZ Bridge is being constructed adjacent to the present 55-year-old bridge.
