POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County taxpayers are expected to save some $57,000 annually in lighting costs as the county upgrades 10 government buildings with energy efficient lighting.
Several county-owned buildings are undergoing retrofits with new LED
lights, ballasts and fixtures, replacing inefficient and outdated fluorescent
bulbs, at no cost to the county.
The project is part of a lighting program administered by Central Hudson with Greenleaf Energy Solutions.
Through a special incentive of more than $1 million, municipal and county governments can apply for funding that covers 100 percent of lighting upgrades in office buildings and facilities.
Dutchess County has targeted 10 facilities including Bowdoin Park, Dutchess County Airport, Department of Public Transit, Department of Public Works Highway Division, Dutchess County Courthouse, DPW Rhinebeck Outpost, DPW Pine Plains Outpost, Board of Elections, Department of Mental Hygiene, and the Dutchess County Jail.
