KINGSTON – A Newburgh man has been sentenced
in Ulster County Court to six month months in the Ulster County Jail and
five years of probation, a $10,000 fine and restitution to Central Hudson
Gas and Electric Corporation in the amount of $32,492 for stealing electricity
to operate a sophisticated marijuana grow house in Plattekill.
Michael Parisi, 25, was sentenced on Monday following his guilty plea
to criminal possession of marijuana and grand larceny, both as felonies.
Parisi and his co-defendant, Denis Pruitt, 32, were arrested on May 1,
2014, in connection with the marijuana grow operation discovered by the
State Police in a house at 490 Orchard Drive in Plattekill.
The location was found to be heavily barricaded and contained ventilation
systems along with over 730 marijuana plants in various stages of growth.
Troopers discovered that Parisi had illegally diverted electrical power
underground to the residence to sustain the operation.
Pruitt, who pled guilty to felony possession of marijuana, was sentenced
in February to one year in the Ulster County Jail.
