Firefighters try to protect adjacent buildings

RHINEBECK – Fire early Sunday morning destroyed an overnight cabin at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck.
The initial fire call reported an unaccounted for person in the cabin,
but she had relocated to a different location at the institute before
the fire broke out.  The fire was so intense that it spread to the
exterior wall of the adjacent cabin less than 10 feet away.
The fire was under control in a half hour although overhaul and cause-and-original investigation continued.
Assisting on scene were East Clinton, Millbrook, Milan, Pleasant Valley and Rhinebeck fire departments, State Police and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
