BRIARCLIFF MANNOR – Sixteen cats that were rescued from a fatal house fire in Mount Kisco on August 12 are now up for adoption at the SPCA or Westchester.
The fire claimed the life of Chrystine Nicholas, 86, who is believed to have gone back into the house to rescue the animals.
The cats are between six and 10 years old.  Most suffered from upper respiratory infections and other ailments. All have been treated and have been rehabilitated.
“The cats are in need of TLC following the traumatic experience of surviving a fire and losing one of their beloved caretakers,” said SPCA Executive Director Shannon Laukhuf.
