PORT JERVIS – Democrat Kelly Decker has no opponent on the November ballot in the Port Jervis mayoral election.
Despite no challenge in his run for a second four-year term, Decker is still seeking a sizeable turnout of voters.
“Because no one is running against me, what I am asking people to do when I go out and campaign is that if you think I am doing a good job, to vote for me, actually pull the lever for me, because if you don’t, then I can see there are adjustments I need to make or is what I am doing alright with the people,” he said.
The Port Jervis mayoral election is quite different than that in another Mid-Hudson city. A three-way race in Newburgh pits the incumbent Democratic mayor, Judy Kennedy, running as an Independence Party candidate against both the Democrat primary winner and a Republican candidate.
