POUGHKEEPSIE – Construction of the water pipeline connection to the Dutchess County Airport should be completed in 12 to 18 months.
Design work on the project is underway and County Executive Marcus Molinaro
said when completed it should do much to improve the economic development
opportunities at the Town of Wappinger facility.
“It is a major enhancement to the airport both for fire suppression for current employers and users of the airport, but also will be a major tool to attract additional economic development in and around the airport and we are close to moving that project forward and all indications show that there are a number of businesses interested in the economic potential of the airport should we have water onsite,” Molinaro said.
The estimated cost of the project is $3 million. The county legislature
has allocated $2.9 million and the state has appropriated $100,000 toward
the work.
