ALBANY – The rate of unemployment in the Hudson Valley in August came in at 4.5 percent, the lowest since the same month in 2007. The August rate is down from 5.0 percent in July and 5.3 percent in August 2014.
In the nine county greater region, Columbia County, at 3.6 percent unemployment, had the lowest rate. Putnam County, at 4.2 percent came in second with Dutchess County, at 4.4 percent, following in third place.
With 4.5 percent joblessness, Westchester County was ranked fourth, followed by Orange and Rockland counties tied for fifth place with 4.6 percent unemployment.
Sullivan and Ulster counties, each with 4.8 percent joblessness, were tied for sixth place and Greene County coming in seventh at 5.1 percent.
Columbia County was tied with Hamilton County for first place ranking statewide.
