FISHKILL – One person
is dead and another is in critical condition following a crash between
a Toyota Highlander SUV and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 in the
Town of Fishkill Tuesday afternoon.
State Police said the fatal victim was the passenger in the Toyota, who
was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver suffered internal injuries
and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
At around 2:39 p.m., the SUV was traveling westbound, crossed into the
center grassy median and into the eastbound lanes where it was hit by
the truck, which was traveling eastbound. The truck driver sustained minor
injuries.
Eastbound I-84 was closed for hours as authorities investigated the accident.
