MOUNT KISCO – Northern
Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco will receive $5.4 million in a federal
grant from FEMA to improve its electrical system.

During Superstorm Sandy, the hospital lost power for 70 hours due to having
an outdate system that relies on one switch to keep the power running.
The current electrical switch at the hospital is 45 years old.

The funding will ensure that the critical infrastructure improvements
are made and will help the hospital better withstand future storms.

The total cost of the project is over $7.2 million.

Northern Westchester is a 233 bed facility with 600 doctors that serves
about 350,000 people on an emergency, inpatients and outpatient basis
annually.
