NEW CITY – The Town of
Clarkstown has secured six TRIPS buses from the Rockland County Transportation
Department for the town’s Mini-Trans bus fleet.

Over the years, the town has been able to acquire the county’s retiring
TRIPS buses, which have over 175,000 miles on them. The town has then
used them for its local Mini-Trans service until they exceed 400,000 miles.

The town has not purchased a bus with town funds since 2004, which has
saved an estimated $1.4 million.
Clarkstown Mini-Trans is a community transit service operated by the
town, which operates five routes throughout the town six days per week.

All routes converge at the Shops at Nanuet, which provides easy access
for town residents and a location for transit riders to transfer to other
Mini-Trans routes or county TOR service.

Mini-Trans also provides door to door transportation to all the Clarkstown
Senior Club meetings throughout the week, transportation to all local
supermarkets from senior citizen complexes with carry-in bag service,
and rides from senior complexes to the monthly senior dance socials organized
by the Recreation and Parks Department.
