WAWAYANDA – “Protect Orange County,” the local citizens group opposed to construction of a natural gas-fired electric generating plant in the Town of Wawayanda, will appeal an Orange County Supreme Court decision allowing the project to move forward.
“There have been major new environmental developments since Competitive Power Ventures obtained clearing to proceed with this project,” said the group’s attorney Michael Sussman. “Yet, both CPV and the Wawayanda Town Planning Board have steadfastly refused to study the implications of these for their project. This turns New York’s laws on their heads and devalues our environment.”
Group spokeswoman Joan Dornhoefer said they place CPV “on notice that it continues this project at its own peril, as we certainly will seek to stop the project.”
Sussman said he would file the appeal promptly.
