TOWN OF WALLKILL – A local man has been arrested by Wallkill Town
Police and charged with sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.
Police Chief Robert Hertman said Michael Appelbaum, 49, of New York Avenue
in the Town of Wallkill was charged with sexual abuse, forcible touching
and endangering the welfare of a child.
The victim was asleep at Appelbaum’s home when she awoke to find
him assaulting her.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000
cash bail or $15,000 bond.
Appelbaum was arrested by Detective Julia Ashworth on Monday, September
7 at 7:37 a.m.
