Elderly woman killed in head-on crash; other driver and three children injured

TOWN OF STUYVESANT – An elderly Kinderhook woman was killed when the car she was driving south on Route 9 in the Town of Stuyvesant just before 3 p.m. on Sunday crossed into the northbound lane and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on.
Harriet Simpkins, 85, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The other driver, Rahmal Spann, 28, of Hudson., and boys, ages 14, nine and five, were transported to Albany Medical Center.  The five-year-old suffered severe brain and head injury.   The nine-year-old suffered severe arm and leg injuries.  Both were admitted to the hospital.  The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries.
