TUXEDO – A 59-year-old Harriman woman was killed Wednesday morning when her vehicle went off Route 17 in Tuxedo and down an embankment into water, police said.
Police said the woman, whose name was not immediately released, apparently ran off the road and down the steep embankment where she was trapped in the vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel scaled down the rough terrain and found the victim to be unconscious and not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
At one point, police thought a second person may have been in the car and thrown out on impact, but a search of the area determined the victim was alone.
