GOSHEN – A Town of Chester man was sentenced in Orange County Court on Tuesday to two to six years in state prison for the crime of grand larceny. John Ravert, 54, was also sentenced to one-and-one-third to four years in prison for the crimes of scheme to defraud and repeated failure to file personal income tax returns. Both sentences will run concurrently.
Orange County Court Judge Robert Freehill also ordered Ravert to pay close to $300,000 in restitution to his victims and that he pay $200,000 of that money by September 3 or risk being sentenced to five to 15 years in prison.
Ravert had done business at different times as Reliant Business Solutions, Time Plus, and Reliant Business Services, most located at 47B Brookside Avenue in the Village of Chester.
He admitted that he stole from at least 14 clients, many of whom operated businesses in Chester.
“This sentence sends a message that my office will seek severe sanctions for those who victimized others by abusing positions of trust,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.
