SPRING VALLEY – One man is in custody and Spring Valley Police are looking for another person of interest in connection with an assault on a man in August who died five days later.
At 2 a.m. on August 17, Segundo Guallpa of Spring Valley was found on the ground in the area of 41 Johnson Street. He had been assaulted and robbed by several assailants.
On August 19, police arrested Alfred Degraw III, 18, of 29 Gesner Drive in Spring Valley and charged him with felony assault, robbery and gang assault. He was committed to the Rockland County Jail on $75,000 bail.
Guallpa died at Nyack Hospital on August 24, leading the DA to consider upping the charges against Degraw.
Meanwhile, police are looking for another man, Malik Baptist, as a person of interest in the crime. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call Spring Valley Police at 845-356-7400. All calls will be kept confidential.
