Greene County woman arrested for grand larceny in welfare fraud case

CATSKILL – A Tannersville woman is accused of obtaining over $26,000 in welfare benefits to which she was not entitled.
State Police charged Jessica Hewitt, 39, with grand larceny, five counts of offering a false instrument for filing and welfare fraud, all as felonies.
Between April 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012, she allegedly received $26,338 in benefits from the Greene County Department of Social Services and it was later determined she failed to report correct household composition and of all household income during that time period.
Hewett was sent to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
