GOSHEN – Rockland County adopted a law regulateing use of drones last week.  Now, Orange County is looking at one.
Orange County Undersheriff Kenneth Jones has brought the idea before an oversight committee of the county legislature. It is something he would like to see considered.
“Given technology today the way drones can be misused more so than anything else, I think you have to have some sort of enforcement tool so in the event someone misuses it, you don’t have anything currently that you can really prosecute them or you have to twist a different statute to fit the drone use,” Jones said.
The Rockland law, which takes effect in the next few weeks without County
Executive Ed Day’s signature, prohibits drones from being flown
over government or private property, or any property without the permission
of the owner.
