TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – An elderly Putnam
Lake woman was killed Monday morning when a man, driving a pickup truck,
backed out of a bank parking lot space, knocking her down and running
over her.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said when the driver backed out
of the space at the Putnam County Savings Bank on Route 6 and Drewville
Road in the Town of Southeast, he knocked the woman, identified as Barbara
Fetzer, 86, of Putnam Lake, to the pavement and then the vehicle ran over
her. She was taken to Putnam Hospital Center by ambulance where she was
pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s Office Patrol members, the Accident Reconstruction team
and the BCI Forensic and Identification Unit were assisted at the scene
by the State Police.
The operator of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for observation.
The investigation is continuing.
