STEWART AIRPORT – As the state promotes
Stewart Airport at Newburgh as a cargo hub alternative to the New York
metropolitan area, one of its handful of current cargo operators is modernizing
its facilities.

Airport Manager Ed Harrison said Federal Express is making a “substantial
investment” in improving the efficiency of its operations.

“They are renovating the building and making it more productive
to become more efficient and handle more volume of cargo,” he said.
Also operating at Stewart is UPS and commercial passenger flights also
carry cargo in the bellies of their aircraft.
