MOUNT VERNON – The City of Mount Vernon has beat out other communities in the regional contest to claim the best tasting water in New York.  Mount Vernon’s water came out on top as voted by taste testers.
“Mount Vernon is proving that our water quality is worthy of recognition,” said Mayor Ernest Davis.
The city entered the contest three years ago after a 15-year hiatus and fared in the top two for the past two years. As winner of this contest, the city’s Board of Water Supply will be heading to the New York State Drinking Water Taste Test, a non-scientific competition at the state fair intended to highlight the importance of taste and quality in drinking water.
