Rhode Island man charged with leaving dog in 110 degree car

SAUGERTIES – A Rhode Island man has
arrested and charged with leaving his dog inside his vehicle where the
temperature reached 110 degrees while the man was shopping in a Saugerties
supermarket.

Scott Millard, 27, of Greenwich, Rhode Island, was charged on Saturday
with confining a companion animal in a vehicle with extreme temperatures.

Saugerties Police were flagged down by a motorist reporting the dog inside
the vehicle appearing to be overheated.

The dog’s owner was met by the officer and he came out of the store
and was charged under state Agriculture and Markets law.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Village of Saugerties
Court.
