TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A body recovered
from the Hudson River near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club is believed to
be that of missing kayaker Ian Jones. The 32-year-old old New York City
man was kayaking with his girlfriend, Tali Fruchtmann, 22, also of New
York City, on Saturday when their craft overturned off Staatsburg.
She was rescued by a passing boater.
Dutchess County Sheriff’s Captain John Watterson said Monday that
at noon a body was recovered that matches the description of Jones. An
autopsy will be performed to determine the identity of the victim.
Fruchtmann is the daughter of rock singer Annie Lenox.
Neither was wearing a life jacket.
