Casale stays on three lines

POUGHKEEPSIE – An effort to have Beacon Mayor Randy Casale and five city council candidates knocked off the Independence and Conservative Party lines in the November election was unsuccessful.
A Dutchess County State Supreme Court judge on Wednesday threw out the lawsuit filed by a number of Democrat Party members.
Their contention was the lack of a cover sheet filed with the petitions, but Casale said his side won out.
“The judge ruled that we could stay on the ballot because some past cases state you don’t need a cover letter if there are less than 10 pages and we had less than 10 pages of petitions,” the mayor said.
Casale, who is a registered member of the Independence Party, is also running on the Republican and Conservative lines.
Challenger Ronald Ray is running on the Democratic line.
