Two arrested in Newburgh, guns, drugs, cash seized

NEWBURGH – Two residents of a home at 28 Bush Avenue in Newburgh have been arrested on a number of drug-related charges.
City Police charged Raymond Russell and Christie Alvarez on felony drug possession, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. They were also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child as their young son was in the residence at the time police executed a search warrant on July 24.
Police seized 264 bags of heroin, drug packaging material, three loaded firearms with one being reported stolen in Pennsylvania, and $900 in cash.
Police investigated the case after receiving complaints from community organizations, business owners and residents regarding drug dealing and loitering.
