MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Loch Sheldrake residents in connection with a burglary at the Monticello Farmer’s Market, a food store on East Broadway.   Over $6,000 in cash was taken, but later recovered at the home of the suspects.
Deputies were called to the store on Friday morning, July 24 when employees discovered the break in.  The burglars apparently gained entry through an outside milk cooler that leads into the store.
Video surveillance revealed the two burglars wore ski masks and had disabled the alarm system.
An investigation identified Joseph Hernandez, 33, and his wife, Damaris Hernandez, 28, of Foxcroft Village in the Town of Fallsburg as suspects. Joseph is a current employee of the store and Damaris is a former employee.
Both were charged with felony burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.  Joseph Hernandez is in the Sullivan County Jail without bail. Demaris was jailed in lieu of $3,500 bail.
